Cancer therapy using dSLIM

 

With its innovative dSLIM immunomodulators, MOLOGEN is pursuing a highly promising therapeutic approach for cancer diseases. It is an approach that is based on the activation of the immune system mediated by the toll-like receptor 9 through the administration of dSLIM.

 

Cancer treatment using radiation- or chemotherapy does not just destroy a majority of the cancer cells found in the body. At the same time, the modified structures existent in these cells (tumor-associated antigens, or TAA) are also released. These tumor-associated antigens, however, are often not recognized by the patient’s immune system and an appropriate immune reaction to the remaining cancer cells fails to be triggered.

 

The use of dSLIM helps to trigger the activation of the immune system. This activation makes it easier for the immune system to recognize the tumor-associated antigens and trigger a defense reaction against them and thus against the cancer cells that are still present. This can result in the fatal tolerance of the body to the cancer cells being overcome which leads to the destruction of these cells ( mechanism of action).

 

Promising results

The preclinical and clinical studies conducted up to now point to a good efficacy of the therapy. No adverse effects have been recorded.

 

MOLOGEN is concentrating its efforts on pushing ahead with the clinical development of the cancer therapy using dSLIM immunomodulators in licensing-relevant studies.
