MOLOGEN AG will receive patent for technological variant of MIDGE
The European Patent Office has informed MOLOGEN AG (ISIN DE 0006637200), that their patent for an important technological variant of MIDGE technology will be granted. Corresponding applications outside the European Union are pending before national patent offices. The invention by the name of “Circle-MIDGE” relates to circular, minimalistic DNA-molecules, which, like MIDGE, only contain the medically relevant genetic information. Similar to MIDGE-TH1 such minicircles can be selectively modified at unique site to generate, for example, a TH1 type immuno-activation. The “Circle-MIDGE” patent has great importance and impact for the protection of MOLOGEN’s MIDGE technology. “Circle-MIDGE” is likely to constitute the only producible variant of established MIDGE and MIDGE-TH1 technologies, to probably gain comparable biomedical results. Bypassing MIDGE technology patents by application of this technology variant is thereby excluded.
About MOLOGENMOLOGEN uses its proprietary DNA technologies to create and develop treatments for high-unmet-need illnesses. The main focuses are the unique and patented MIDGE and dSLIM technologies. Based on these platforms, MOLOGEN is developing DNA-based vaccines and therapeutics to prevent or cure a wide range of diseases. Going public in 1998, MOLOGEN was one of the first German biotechnology companies to be floated on the stock exchange. The MOLOGEN shares are traded on the Geregelter Markt in Frankfurt.
