MOLOGEN AG reports profit for fiscal year 2006
· 2006 most successful year in company history
· Multiplication of sales through commercialization
agreements
The Berlin-based biotechnology company MOLOGEN AG (ISIN DE0006637200) has increased revenues in fiscal year 2006 many times over last year from EUR 0.8 million to EUR 5.2 million. Due to the positive business performance MOLOGEN could report the first profit in the company history: after a loss of EUR 4.1 million in the previous year the operating result (EBIT) improved to EUR 0.4 million. Net profit increased also significantly to EUR 0.5 million compared to a loss of 4.4 million in the comparison period. The non-diluted earnings per share increased to EUR 0.06 (previous year: EUR -0.53).
At the year-end, liquid funds decreased slightly to EUR 6.7 million from EUR 7.8 million in the previous year. With the recent capital increase (beginning of March 2007) - grossing additional EUR 6 million - the liquid funds are at several years’ peak.
The positive performance in 2006 was driven by a number of important agreements with national and international partners. MOLOGEN has entered commercialization agreements for Asia and India as well as a research and development contract with a major US animal health company for the development of a vaccine against leishmaniasis, a severe infectious disease.
For its cell-based gene-therapy for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma, MOLOGEN was granted “Orphan drug status” by the European Commission. This status provides the company a ten-year marketing exclusivity.
“The last financial year was the most successful year in our company history”, said Professor Dr Burghardt Wittig, Chief Executive Officer of MOLOGEN AG. “We are very confident to continue our performance also in 2007 and to achieve important milestones in the development and commercialization of our products. As an example, we will initiate a clinical study in colorectal cancer, a very prevalent cancer indication.”
MOLOGEN AG publishes its Annual Report 2006 today. The document is available in German and English language on www.mologen.com. The report can also be ordered via telephone, fax or mail (please see details at the end of the release).
